Central Ohio Workforce Investment Board

The COWIB stands for the Central Ohio Workforce Investment Board. It currently consists of 28 active board members who are community and business leaders that work together to develop policy and strategies to improve our local workforce system. The board members are all volunteers who have been selected and appointed to the Board by the Mayor of the City of Columbus and the Franklin County Board of Commissioners, in conjunction with recommendations made by the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce.

"We envision creating, nurturing and maintaining a competent, empowered workforce which provides Columbus and Franklin County the unique opportunity to attract and retain new businesses."

Strategic Initiatives*

Streamline The System: An Analysis Of Training And Related Programs should be conducted (building on existing research if possible) to evaluate the community’s current efforts.
Marketing And Education: A Marketing And Education Plan Must Be Developed To Attract Our "Customers" To Our System.
Ensure The System Is Accessible: An Analysis Of The Current One Stop Services should be conducted to determine the services that need to be offered in order to attract and serve our target customers.
Employer Driven Skill Standards: An Analysis Of The Existing employer driven skill standards should be conducted to determine their validity to today’s employment requirements.
High Performance And Accountability: An Analysis Of The Current Performance Management Systems (Public And Private) Should Be Conducted To Determine The Workforce Policy Board’s Options.
